ICT and society: ICT in the home

Microprocessors are using a lot at home. It’s using in a microwave, coffee machine, toaster, freezer and ventilator. Also, many homes are being smart home. Which means that the people can control everything in their home by tablet.

Data from the sensor is an analogue data (such as temperature) so it needs to be converted to digital signal for the microprocessor to process it by using Analogue to Digital Converter (ADC).

The digital signal from the microprocessor should be converted to analogue signal to order the actuator to be able to control by using Digital to Analogue Converter (DAC).

Many other domestic services are also controlled by the ICT. An example of a device using a microprocessor is Robot Vacuum. We can run this when we are busy with doing something or when we go out we can run this. Which means, we don’t need to put our time on cleaning the house. It can also automatically be charged, when its battery is running low.

Even there’re lots of developed smart technologies. For example, there’s a refrigerator which can suggest a menu by observing the materials in it. Also, if there are certain materials which are needed, they write a shopping list for us.

Even the washing machines became so smart that they can even call to us when their work is finished. Also, they recognise the material of the clothes so they can select the way to wash that cloth.
